Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz said in a joint statement that the Israeli military struck Hezbollah targets in southern Beirut's Dahieh suburb on Sunday, in response to firing into Israeli territory.

Meanwhile, Lebanese media reported an Israeli airstrike targeted a building in the Ghobeiri area in Beirut's southern suburbs.

According to Israel's Channel 12 television station, Israeli army killed Hezbollah's communication systems chief in the strike.

On the day, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that it struck a Hezbollah headquarters in the Dahieh district.

The Israeli military claimed that Hezbollah militants used the headquarters to promote "terrorist" attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF forces operating in southern Lebanon.
