A Chinese mainland spokesperson on Thursday called for joint efforts across the Taiwan Strait to promote the peaceful and integrated development of cross-Strait relations and create a brighter future for national reunification and rejuvenation.

Zhu Fenglian, a spokeswoman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the remarks while commenting on General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Xi Jinping's address at a grand gathering celebrating the 105th founding anniversary of the CPC in Beijing on Wednesday morning.

In the speech, Xi, also the Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, said that resolving the Taiwan question and realizing China's complete reunification is a historic mission and an unshakable commitment for the CPC.

"General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech emphasized adherence to the one-China principle and the '1992 Consensus,' demonstrating sincerity and goodwill in uniting Taiwan compatriots, deepening cross-Strait exchanges, cooperation, and integrated development.
