Members of the Chinese People's Armed Police Force braved heavy rainfall to rescue trapped people in Fangchenggang City of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Sunday after Typhoon Maysak made landfall in the area.

Typhoon Maysak, the 10th typhoon of the year, made a second landfall on Saturday night along the coast near the border between Guangxi and northern Vietnam.

Torrential rains flooded Xiasanlang and Hantang villages in Fangcheng District. Water levels in the villages have risen to about 1.1 meters, leaving a number of residents stranded.

In response, a total of 53 members of Fangchenggang Detachment of the Guangxi Armed Police Corps, carrying rescue equipment, rushed to the flood-hit areas to carry out rescue and relief operations.

At the scene, the armed police split into several rescue squads to launch door-to-door searches and relocate stranded villagers. Search-and-rescue operations are currently continuing at full tilt.
