Iran's Foreign Minister on Sunday rejected the notion that his country is in direct negotiations with the United States, declaring that any formal talks remain impossible until the U.S. stops violating the terms of the interim peace deal signed in June.

Despite U.S. President Donald Trump claiming the U.S. is "semi-negotiating" with Iran, the latter refuses to publicly acknowledge that any talks are taking place.

Trump said that he is prepared to put more economic pressure on Iran, as opposed to ordering a new military offensive. The U.S. has said its recent strikes were aimed at stopping Iran from attacking vessels crossing the Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping passageway which has become a focal point for resolving the conflict.

Speaking to reporters in Tehran on Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi once again stressed that no formal talks are taking place between the two sides.

"Negotiation has its own definition. Negotiation takes place on a specific issue in order to reach a conclusion. At the moment, we have no negotiations with the United States. Yes, there is an exchange of messages through intermediaries, but it is not called negotiation -- it is called message exchange. Arangchi's remarks underscore Iran's hardened stance as it continues to tighten its grip on the Strait of Hormuz after the U.S. and Israel first launched strikes on Tehran at the end of February.

Iran has reiterated that reopening the crucial waterway is contingent on the U.S. agreeing to a sweeping set of conditions, including paying war damages, unfreezing Iranian assets, and ending all aggression against Iran and its allies in the region.

The foreign minister did confirm Iran is nearing an agreement with Oman on demarcating new shipping lanes in the strait, though the Iranian side remains adamant the waterway will not reopen until the U.S. "corrects its behavior."

According to U.S. officials who spoke to the Wall Street Journal, Trump has been preparing to claim victory in the conflict if the strait reopens, and is even privately mulling over the idea of walking away without a nuclear deal. But as Iran doubles down on its demands, it is becoming increasingly difficult for Trump to declare victory.

Le ministre iranien des Affaires étrangères Abbas Araghchi a rejeté dimanche toute idée de négociations directes avec les États-Unis, affirmant que des pourparlers officiels sont impossibles tant que Washington continue de violer l'accord de paix intérimaire signé en juin.

Alors que le président américain Donald Trump assure que les États-Unis menaient des "négociations partielles" avec l'Iran, Téhéran dément toute négociation.

Trump a d'ailleurs déclaré envisager d'intensifier la pression économique sur l'Iran plutôt que de lancer une nouvelle offensive militaire.

Interrogé dimanche à Téhéran, M. Araghchi a réaffirmé qu'aucune négociation officielle n'était en cours.

"La négociation a une définition précise : elle porte sur un sujet pour aboutir à un accord. Pour l'instant, nous n'avons pas de négociations avec les États-Unis. Ses propos traduisent la position de plus en plus ferme de l'Iran, qui renforce son contrôle sur le détroit d'Ormuz depuis le début des frappes américano-israéliennes sur Téhéran fin février. Téhéran conditionne la réouverture de cette voie stratégique à l'acceptation par Washington d'une série d'exigences : dommages de guerre, dégel des avoirs iraniens et fin des agressions contre l'Iran et ses alliés dans la région.

M. Araghchi a confirmé que l'Iran et Oman étaient proches d'un accord sur de nouvelles routes maritimes dans le détroit d'Ormuz, affirmant que le détroit d'Ormuz ne rouvrirait pas tant que les États-Unis n'auraient pas "corrigé leur comportement".

Selon des responsables américains cités par le Wall Street Journal, Trump se préparerait à revendiquer la victoire en cas de réouverture du détroit d'Ormuz, et envisagerait même de se retirer sans accord nucléaire. Mais face à l'intransigeance iranienne, une déclaration de victoire s'annonce de plus en plus difficile.

وقال ترامب إنه مستعد لممارسة المزيد من الضغوط الاقتصادية على إيران، بدلاً من إصدار أوامر بشن هجوم عسكري جديد. وقد صرحت الولايات المتحدة بأن ضرباتها الأخيرة كانت تهدف إلى منع إيران من مهاجمة السفن التي تعبر المضيق.

وقد أكدت إيران مجدداً أن إعادة فتح هذا الممر المائي الحيوي مشروطة بموافقة الولايات المتحدة على مجموعة شاملة من الشروط، بما فيها دفع تعويضات الحرب، ورفع التجميد عن الأصول الإيرانية، ووقف جميع الأعمال العدوانية ضد إيران وحلفائها في المنطقة.

ومن النقاط التي اتفق عليها الطرفان في تصريحاتهما، أن إيران تقترب من التوصل إلى اتفاق مع عُمان بشأن ترسيم مسارات ملاحية جديدة في مضيق هرمز. لكن إيران لا تزال مصرة على أن الممر المائي لن يُعاد فتحه حتى تقوم الولايات المتحدة، على حد تعبيرها، بـ"تصحيح سلوكها".

ووفقًا لمسؤولين أمريكيين تحدثوا إلى صحيفة "وول ستريت جورنال"، فإن ترامب يستعد لإعلان النصر في هذا الصراع في حال إعادة فتح المضيق، بل إنه "يفكر سرّيًا في فكرة الانسحاب دون التوصل إلى اتفاق نووي". لكن مع تصعيد إيران لمطالبها، يصبح من الصعب بشكل متزايد على ترامب "إعلان النصر".

El ministro de Relaciones Exteriores de Irán, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, negó el domingo que Irán mantenga negociaciones directas con Estados Unidos, y afirmó que cualquier diálogo formal queda descartado hasta que Washington detenga las supuestas violaciones del acuerdo de paz provisional, firmado en junio.

Irán ha reiterado que la reapertura de la crucial vía fluvial está supeditada a que Estados Unidos acepte una serie de condiciones, que incluyen el pago de indemnizaciones por daños de guerra, el desbloqueo de los activos iraníes y el cese de toda agresión contra Irán y sus aliados en la región.

El ministro de Relaciones Exteriores de Irán confirmó que Irán está cerca de alcanzar un acuerdo con Omán sobre la delimitación de nuevas rutas marítimas en el estrecho de Ormuz.
