The China-Europe Arctic container express route launched its weekly summer regular service on Saturday, according to the Ministry of Transport.

Loaded with high-value-added goods such as energy storage cabinets and photovoltaic modules, the vessel departed from Ningbo-Zhoushan Port in east China's Zhejiang Province on Saturday. It will travel via the Northeast Arctic waterway to Europe, making successive calls at core ports in Northern Europe and the Baltic Sea, including Britain's largest container port of Felixstowe, Rotterdam in the Netherlands, Hamburg in Germany, and Gdynia in Poland.

It is the fastest container shipping route between major ports in China and Europe, significantly shortening the journey and transportation time by crossing the Arctic Ocean. Taking just 20 days to complete, it is significantly faster than the China-Europe freight train (about 25 days), the Suez Canal route (about 40 days), and the Cape of Good Hope route (about 50 days).

The maiden voyage of China's China-Europe Arctic container express route set sail from Ningbo-Zhoushan Port on September 23, 2025, and arrived at Britain's Port of Felixstowe, 20 days later via the Arctic shipping lane.

The route is also seen as a key achievement under the Belt and Road Initiative's "Polar Silk Road", poised to provide faster and lower-carbon logistics options for industries such as advanced manufacturing, cross-border e-commerce, and new energy.

La liaison maritime express de conteneurs reliant la Chine à l’Europe par la voie transarctique a inauguré samedi son service régulier hebdomadaire d’été, a annoncé le ministère chinois des Transports.

Le navire, chargé d’armoires de stockage d’énergie et de modules photovoltaïques, a quitté samedi le port de Ningbo-Zhoushan (Zhejiang, est). Il empruntera la route du Nord-Est arctique pour rejoindre l’Europe, avec des escales successives dans les principaux ports d’Europe du Nord et de la mer Baltique, notamment Felixstowe (plus grand port à conteneurs du Royaume-Uni), Rotterdam, Hambourg et Gdynia.

Il s’agit de la liaison maritime par conteneurs la plus rapide entre la Chine et l’Europe. Grâce à la traversée de l’océan Arctique, le trajet est ramené à vingt jours, contre vingt-cinq pour le train de fret, quarante par le canal de Suez et cinquante par le cap de Bonne-Espérance.

Le voyage inaugural avait eu lieu le 23 septembre 2025, avec une arrivée à Felixstowe vingt jours plus tard.

Cette route, considérée comme une réalisation majeure de l’initiative "la Ceinture et la Route" et de la "Route de la Soie polaire", offrira des solutions logistiques plus rapides et moins polluantes aux secteurs de la haute technologie, du commerce électronique transfrontalier et des énergies renouvelables.

Die arktische Container-Expressroute zwischen China und Europa hat am Samstag ihren wöchentlichen Sommer-Regeldienst aufgenommen. Das hat das chinesische Verkehrsministerium mitgeteilt.

Beladen mit hochwertigen Gütern wie Energiespeicherschränken und Photovoltaikmodulen lief das Schiff am Samstag vom Hafen Ningbo-Zhoushan in der ostchinesischen Provinz Zhejiang aus. Es wird nun über die nordöstliche arktische Wasserroute nach Europa fahren und dabei nacheinander Kernhäfen in Nordeuropa und im Ostseeraum anlaufen, darunter den größten Containerhafen Großbritanniens in Felixstowe, Rotterdam in den Niederlanden, Hamburg in Deutschland und Gdynia in Polen.

Es handelt sich dabei um die schnellste Containerschifffahrtsroute zwischen den wichtigsten Häfen Chinas und Europas, wobei sich die Reise- und Transportzeit durch die Überquerung des Arktischen Ozeans erheblich verkürzt. Mit nur 20 Tagen Fahrzeit ist die Route deutlich schneller als der China-Europa-Güterzug (rund 25 Tage), die Route durch den Suezkanal (rund 40 Tage) und die Route um das Kap der Guten Hoffnung (rund 50 Tage).

Die Jungfernfahrt des ersten Schiffes entlang der chinesisch-europäischen arktischen Container-Expressroute erfolgte am 23. September 2025 vom Hafen Ningbo-Zhoushan aus; das Schiff erreichte 20 Tage später über die arktische Schifffahrtsroute den britischen Hafen Felixstowe.

Die Route wird zudem als ein Schlüsselerfolg der „Polar-Seidenstraße“ im Rahmen der Seidenstraßen-Initiative angesehen und soll schnellere und kohlenstoffärmere Logistikoptionen für Branchen wie die fortgeschrittene Fertigung, den grenzüberschreitenden E-Commerce und die neue Energiewirtschaft bieten.
