The United States military had redirected 71 commercial vessels, disabled three and boarded two for inspection by Monday as part of a naval blockade against Iran, the U.S. Central Command said in a statement on the same day.

Meanwhile, over 40 vessels supporting humanitarian aid have been allowed to pass, said the statement.

Meanwhile, maritime data firm Kpler reported that the number of commodity vessels sailing through the Strait of Hormuz dropped to a three-month low on Monday.

Only two vessels transited through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, including a large liquefied natural gas carrier and a large crude carrier, and both ships entered the Persian Gulf, according to Kpler.

While the figure is lower than the seven vessels of various types recorded one day before, the actual number may be slightly higher, as some vessels switched off their navigation systems during passage.

The Strait of Hormuz saw the transportation of an estimated 6 million to 7 million barrels per day on a seven-day moving average by Sunday, according to crude oil and refined oil product flows data provider Vortexa.

The figure represents a sharp drop from approximately 20 million barrels per day of crude oil and refined petroleum products before the conflict.
