The global economic and trade friction index remained at a high level in June, according to data released by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) at a press conference on Monday.

The index stood at 102 in June 2026, while the value of measures related to global economic and trade frictions rose by 2.4 percent year on year and 11.8 percent month on month.

Among the 20 countries and regions under monitoring, India, the United States and the European Union ranked the top three in the global economic and trade friction index.

"The United States continues to intensify its use of trade protection instruments such as unilateral sanctions, export controls, Section 232 tariffs and Section 301 investigations, which has kept the value involved in its global economic and trade friction measures ranking first for seven consecutive months," said Yang Fan, spokeswoman for the CCPIT.

Among the 13 major industries under monitoring, friction hotspots were concentrated in the sectors of electronics, chemical, pharmaceutical and machinery equipment, with the electronics industry topping the global economic and trade friction index.
