The Israeli military continued its strikes in southern Lebanon on Saturday, bringing the cumulative Lebanese death toll to 4,358 since March 2, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Lebanese sources.

The IDF said in post on X that the operation targeted Hezbollah weapon storage facilities that were "intended to plan and direct terror attacks against IDF soldiers in the Security Zone and Israeli civilians."

The strikes were launched to "remove an immediate threat," the statement said.

The IDF described the action as a response to an earlier attempt by Hezbollah militants to launch a drone toward Israeli-held positions in southern Lebanon's "security zone." Israeli soldiers intercepted the drone on Friday, with no injuries reported.

A Lebanese woman was killed and five other people injured Saturday in the Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanon's official National News Agency (NNA).

According to Lebanon's Emergency Public Health Operations Center, the cumulative death toll from the Israeli attacks between March 2 and Sept 5 had reached 4,358, with 12,359 others injured.

أفادت مصادر لبنانية أن الجيش الإسرائيلي واصل شنّ غاراته في جنوب لبنان يوم السبت/5 سبتمبر، ما أدى إلى ارتفاع الحصيلة الإجمالية للضحايا إلى 4358 منذ 2 مارس.

وقد أكد الجيش الإسرائيلي، في منشور على منصة ((إكس))، أن هذه العملية استهدفت "منشآت لتخزين الأسلحة تابعة لحزب الله"، والتي قال إنها كانت "مخصصة للتخطيط وتنفيذ هجمات إرهابية ضد جنود الجيش الإسرائيلي في المنطقة الأمنية والمدنيين الإسرائيليين".

وأضاف البيان أن هذه الضربات نُفذت بهدف "إزالة تهديد فوري".

ووصف الجيش الإسرائيلي هذه العملية بأنها ردّ على "محاولة سابقة من قبل مقاتلين تابعين لحزب الله لإطلاق طائرة مسيّرة باتجاه مواقع تسيطر عليها إسرائيل في المنطقة الأمنية بجنوب لبنان". وأوضح أن الجنود الإسرائيليين اعترضوا الطائرة المسيّرة يوم الجمعة، دون تسجيل وقوع إصابات.

وعلى الجانب اللبناني، أفادت الوكالة الوطنية للإعلام اللبنانية بأن سيدة لبنانية قُتلت وأصيب خمسة أشخاص آخرون يوم السبت جراء الغارات الإسرائيلية في جنوب لبنان.

ووفقًا لمركز عمليات طوارئ الصحة العامة في لبنان، فقد بلغت حصيلة القتلى جراء الهجمات الإسرائيلية خلال الفترة الممتدة بين 2 مارس و5 سبتمبر إلى 4358 قتيلًا، فيما بلغ عدد المصابين 12359 شخصًا آخرين.
