"I think I would point to our nutrition health supplement products. This company is basing their products with the nutrition health omega-3 on krill. You know Chinese people are very concerned about their health and they're very particular about what they drink and what they eat. And they are so concerned about the quality. So, this is something Norway really brings to the Chinese market."

"I think the development in services will go like this (up) in China. And the export of Norwegian services to China has been growing already for several years. So this, I think, will just continue to develop. So, we see actually a huge growth potential in the service sector in China, but also for the Norwegian companies to take part of it."

"We are here at CIFTIS to create concrete business, and this is the platform to do it, and then we work very extensively to continue, right? So, it's actual business. You know the Chinese development these days, when we look at this as foreigners, we are enthusiastic. The AI development, the high-tech development. So, on the one hand, this high-tech development in China definitely gives opportunities, but on the other hand, of course, this is the competition in the Chinese market is increasing, and also we are all wondering where is this ending though, this AI development, you know, and this is not only China. This is the US, this is Europe. Everyone is wondering, you know, it's going so fast, so where will it end. So, I think there are lots of opportunities, and a lot of 'oh my gosh'."

Norway, the guest country of honor at the 2026 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), which opened Wednesday in Beijing, is looking to expand its services trade with China in areas ranging from health supplements to clean energy and Scandinavian furniture.
The Norwegian national pavilion at the fair at Beijing's Shougang Park, where its delegation is showcasing its national specialities, measures about 260 square meters.
Henning Kristoffersen, commercial counselor at the Norwegian Embassy to China, highlighted Norwegian nutrition and health supplement products as something he thought would be a popular product at the fair.
"I think I would point to our nutrition health supplement products. This company is basing their products with the nutrition health omega-3 on krill. You know Chinese people are very concerned about their health and they're very particular about what they drink and what they eat. And they are so concerned about the quality. So, this is something Norway really brings to the Chinese market," he said.
China is Norway's largest trading partner in Asia, and services trade is surging, with an increase of more than 17 percent in the first half of 2026. Norwegian companies are looking at how they can benefit from that growth. Kristoffersen said Norwegian services exports to China have been expanding for several years and are likely to continue.
"I think the development in services will go like this (up) in China. And the export of Norwegian services to China has been growing already for several years. So this, I think, will just continue to develop. So, we see actually a huge growth potential in the service sector in China, but also for the Norwegian companies to take part of it," said Kristoffersen.
Kristoffersen added that CIFTIS is a platform for concrete business, not just promotion.
"We are here at CIFTIS to create concrete business, and this is the platform to do it, and then we work very extensively to continue, right? So, it's actual business. You know the Chinese development these days, when we look at this as foreigners, we are enthusiastic. The AI development, the high-tech development. This is the US, this is Europe. Everyone is wondering, you know, it's going so fast, so where will it end. So, I think there are lots of opportunities, and a lot of 'oh my gosh'," said Kristoffersen.
