A senior official from the National Radio and Television Administration on Thursday outlined the plan to accelerate the high-quality development of the radio, television and online audiovisual sectors during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030).
He Biao, deputy head of the National Radio and Television Administration, told reporters that the administration will actively promote the deep integration and coordinated development of the sectors during the period.
He stressed that the radio, television and online audiovisual sectors must serve an ideological function, provide public services, and develop as a technology-driven industry.
The administration will make a point to coordinate four distinct business forms: radio and TV networks, Internet Protocol Television or IPTV, internet-based TV, and the public internet.
"The administration will consolidate and upgrade radio and television broadcasting, innovate and develop online audiovisual services, and integrate them to form synergy. It will vigorously push forward two advances: enabling radio and television media to fully advance into the main battlefield of the internet, and enabling radio, television and audiovisual services to advance into the main battlefield of economic and social development," he said.
