Global observers are closely watching Chinese President Xi Jinping's upcoming state visit to the United States for signs that U.S.-China relations will develop in a healthy, stable and sustainable way and deliver greater peace, prosperity and progress to the world.

Daniel Balazs, a senior research analyst at the Institute for China-Europe Studies (ICES), said that the "four stabilities" proposed by Xi for China-U.S. relations were of great significance. Xi's "four stabilities" are: positive stability with cooperation as the mainstay, healthy stability with competition within proper limits, constant stability with manageable differences, and lasting stability with expectable peace.

"I think President Xi Jinping's visit to the United States will have an opportunity to consolidate and turn the constructive strategic stability into actionable outcomes. In the longer term, they have the opportunity to agree on specific mechanisms on trade and investment and AI governance, possibly even critical technology, to facilitate the deepening of U.S.-China relations and therefore contribute to global stability.
