Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Tuesday condemned Israel's military campaign in Gaza, accusing Prime Minister Netanyahu's government of committing "genocide" during his address at the General Debate of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

Lula said that generations of Palestinians will carry the pain and trauma left by the genocide.

"Generations of Palestinians will carry the pain and trauma left by the genocide of women and children perpetrated by the Netanyahu government in Gaza. Israeli civilians pay the price for radicalism and intolerance of the Hamas terrorist acts," said Lula.

The Brazilian leader also criticized Israel's actions to penalize global bodies.

"Persecuting the International Criminal Court and its members encourages these crimes to go unpunished. The UN Special rapporteur, Francesca Albanese, must not be silenced for telling the truth," Lula said.

He also warned that the expansion of illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank is severely undermining the viability of the "two-state solution," which is vital to achieve lasting peace between Palestine and Israel.

"Illegal settlements in the West Bank are making the two-state solution increasingly unviable, which is essential for Israelis and Palestinians to live in safety," said Lula.
