Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the Chebarkul training ground in the Chelyabinsk region on Friday to observe the final active phase of the Center-2026 strategic command and staff exercises.
According to the President of Russia website, the exercises, running from September 28 to October 3, involve over 47,000 personnel conducting missions across 11 training grounds and the Caspian Sea, and are being held in coordination with the Interaction-2026 exercises of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
The drills aim to enhance troop command capabilities in countering external aggression by practically applying new weapons and equipment, with all tasks drawing on combat experiences from the special military operation. In his address, Putin noted that the exercises will help Russia respond more effectively to external security threats.
