Foreign tourists are flocking to Zhangjiajie during the weeklong National Day holiday, taking part in ethnic customs and heritage performances alongside the scenic spot's iconic natural landscape.

Located in central China's Hunan Province, the UNESCO World Heritage site has staged folk song and dance shows across its main viewing platforms, adding cultural offerings to its world-famous mountain vistas.

At Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, open-air cultural performances set up along panoramic vantage points offered international tourists a chance to experience local music against the backdrop of the park's iconic peaks.

"We are at the Zhangjiajie National Park and it has been really nice here. The atmosphere is really good. The scenery is beautiful. We've been here for three days, and everybody is really nice," said Max, a Dutch tourist.

"We just danced with the pretty dancers here, a Chinese dance on the Zhangjiajie glass bridge. It was very mesmerizing, it was very cool, it was very fun," said Uther Rouatbi, an Italian tourist.

At night, a light show on the Zhangjiajie 72 Wonder Towers drew crowds of foreign tourists to wander around the street and eagerly participate in various interactive activities, including sharing the stage with performers and participating in traditional Tujia wedding performances.

Among the performances on the street, molten iron firework shows have been drawing on the largest groups of visitors gasping in amazement.

"I have never seen this before, so I was shocked. [It's] wonderful, amazing, and magical," said Alejandra, a Peruvian tourist.

Meanwhile, an immersive musical has been staged in the Tianmen Mountain scenic area, incorporating cultural elements such as local folk songs, traditional customs in western Hunan, and flower drum opera.

"It was a great performance. China has a great culture. I love it. As we know, the technology is also very good. The combination of both was like a one-in-a-lifetime experience for me," said Cevahir, a German tourist.

The Charm of Western Hunan grand theater in Wulingyuan District of the city has also enriched its programs with Maogusi Dance -- a primitive dance-drama of the Tujia ethnic group -- Tujia wedding customs, and folk acrobatics.
With four shows staged each night, the theater has been seeing its 3,200-seat auditorium fully occupied during the holiday.

"It was beautiful, costumes, stage, lights, everything was extravagant," said Despoina, a Greek tourist.

The seven-day National Day holiday began on Thursday, marking the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
