"China has never recognized the so-called 'Union Territory of Ladakh' unilaterally and illegally established by India, and firmly opposes the so-called 'standardized names' publicized by India. China has never recognized the so-called "Union Territory of Ladakh" unilaterally and illegally established by India, and firmly opposes India's publication of "standard place names in Ladakh", Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Tuesday.

She made the remarks in response to a question at a press briefing in Beijing after the government of India said it had identified 28 locations in Ladakh by standard names on an official map.

"China has never recognized the so-called 'Union Territory of Ladakh' unilaterally and illegally established by India, and firmly opposes the so-called 'standardized names' publicized by India. This move by India is illegal and void, and does not change the fact that the western sector of the China-India boundary belongs to China," said Mao.
