China plans to achieve its first crewed lunar landing before 2030, Wang Xiang, deputy chief designer of China's manned space program, said Saturday at the Seventh Manned Space Symposium in Beijing.

Three astronauts are planned for the mission, with two landing on the lunar surface, Wang said.

According to the China Manned Space Agency, work is progressing steadily on all lunar-landing phase tasks.

The agency also said the China Space Station will open to scientists worldwide as a platform for space science experiments, with a goal to deeper cooperation in research, astronaut training, joint flights, and science outreach.

2026 marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of China's space industry and the fourth year since the full completion of the China Space Station.

The two-day symposium has drawn more than 800 experts and scholars to explore how digital and intelligent technologies can advance human spaceflight.

This year's event focuses on cutting-edge technologies, engineering practices, and development needs in the field of human spaceflight, aiming to exchange the latest research results and deepen academic discussion.

It features 15 sub-forums under three themes -- common technologies for human spaceflight, the low-Earth-orbit crewed space station, and lunar exploration missions.
