Spanish authorities announced Monday that the identities of 66 out of the 69 people killed in last week's high-speed train collision in Toledo province have been confirmed.

The collision occurred near Urda Station in Toledo province at around 08:54 local time on Wednesday, when an AVE train operated by state-owned railway company Renfe stuck the rear of a stationary train operated by private company Iryo.

The High Court of Justice of Castile-La Mancha released an update on the accident on Monday. Sixty six of the sixty nine victims had been identified, including 54 Spanish citizens, four U.S. citizens, and one each from Argentina, Canada, the Czech Republic, France, Japan, Mexico, Portugal and Tunisia, the update noted.

The identities of the remaining three victims will be confirmed in a few hours, according to the update.

Emiliano García-Page, president of the Junta of Communities of Castilla-La Mancha, said last Friday that the death toll from the train collision remained at 69, while authorities had received 70 missing-person reports. He said that authorities could not rule out the possibility of a higher death toll.
