U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday threatened to take out Iran in "one night", saying that night "might" be Tuesday evening if Iran does not accept his demand to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
"The entire country could be taken out in one night, and that night might be tomorrow night," Trump told a press conference at the White House.
Trump said his administration has a plan to strike and destroy bridges and power plants across Iran by midnight Tuesday.
The U.S. president said that the 20:00 Eastern Time Tuesday deadline he has set for Iran is final. However, he had previously repeatedly changed the deadlines he had announced for a ceasefire deal or for reopening the strait.
Earlier on Monday, Trump told reporters at the White House Easter Egg Roll that he was "not worried about" whether the U.S. airstrikes on Iran's power plants and other civil infrastructure could constitute a war crime.
The spokesman for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, the unified command of the Iranian armed forces, on Monday called Trump delusional.
The United States has been humiliated in West Asia, and "rude, arrogant, and baseless threats" by Trump can not erase that, the spokesman said.
