More than 70,000 overseas buyers attended the opening day of the 139th edition of the China Import and Export Fair in south China's Guangzhou on Wednesday, with foreign visitors saying they are impressed with the sheer volume of top technological displays on show.
Also known as the Canton Fair, the latest edition of the biannual trade extravaganza has drawn a record number of over 32,000 participating enterprises, including nearly 4,000 debutants, with an astonishing amount of more than 4.65 million exhibits on display.
A large number of cutting-edge technological achievements and high-value-added products are being featured, showcasing the strong momentum of China's manufacturing transformation toward high-end, intelligent, and green development, with these items attracting the attention of global buyers.
"It's very impressive how China is getting so quick this new technology and this environment is growing so fast. I hope [more foreign traders] will come here and see all these goods you guys are developing and bring to their countries," said a Brazilian consumer.
In a bid to shine a spotlight on new development and enhance the effectiveness of business matching and broaden cooperation channels, the current session of the Canton Fair will also host over 600 new product launch events, nine themed forums, and 15 trade bridge supply-purchase matching events, building an important platform for efficient communication and precise connection between domestic and overseas enterprises.
One official noted that the event comes as China's latest five-year planning cycle gets underway, where the emphasis will be further placed on sci-tech innovation and green development.
