U.S. business leaders accompanying President Donald Trump on his visit to China expressed the confidence that the United States and China can achieve common prosperity through dialogue and cooperation.
They also said that the talks between the leaders of the two countries will inject fresh momentum into bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
Senior executives from more than 10 well-known U.S. companies are visiting China as part of the delegation during Trump's state visit to China from Wednesday to Friday.
They expressed their confidence in China's long-term growth and market opportunities in an interview with the China Media Group on Thursday.
"The Chinese economy seems to be strong, and the outlook is good. It's nice to see the two countries together collaborating. So it's been good to be here. Dialogue is always a good start, and seek common understanding, and I think that's what we've seen today with President Xi and President Trump. We've seen good collaboration and that drives understanding. And when we do that, we can find areas that we can work together and grow both economies," said Brian Sikes, chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Cargill, an American multinational food company.
CEO and president of Qualcomm Cristiano Amon said he is optimistic about the future development of China-U.S. relations and sees opportunities in technology cooperation between the two countries.
"I think it's great opportunity for everybody and I'm very excited to be here. I'm looking [at the China-US relations] with a lot of optimism. I think the opportunities especially with technology. Citigroup Chief Executive Officer Jane Fraser said that the bank sees strong innovation and vibrancy among Chinese companies and looks forward to supporting the further development of capital markets in China.
