Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Monday that China and Pakistan have maintained high-level political mutual trust, pragmatic cooperation, and international collaboration, setting a model for state-to-state relations.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks while meeting with visiting Pakistani Chief of Defense Forces and Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir in Beijing.
He first extended a warm welcome to Munir’s visit to China, alongside Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who was on an official visit to China from May 23 to 26 at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
Wang said no matter how international and regional situations change, the friendship between China and Pakistan remains rock-solid and unbreakable.
He added that the Pakistani military has always been an important force in promoting China-Pakistan cooperation, and he believes that it will make new contributions to deepening the traditional friendship and building a China-Pakistan community with a shared future.
Munir said that the four major global initiatives proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Belt and Road Initiative have played a pivotal role in promoting world peace and development.
He expressed his country's readiness to continue to fully promote the development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
The Pakistani military leader also briefed Wang on the latest progress in mediating the U.S.-Iran conflict, saying that an agreement is close to being reached, and the Pakistani side is willing to continue its all-out efforts.
Wang said China appreciates and supports Pakistan's mediation efforts.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
