The purchasing managers' index (PMI) for China's manufacturing sector stood at 50 in May, down 0.3 percentage points from the previous month, official data showed Sunday.

A reading above 50 indicates expansion, while one below 50 reflects contraction.

This sector saw sustained expansion in manufacturing output and a softening in market demand in May. The production sub-index came in at 51.2, while the new orders index stood at 49.9, according to data jointly released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing.

"In terms of industries, the production index and new order index of sectors including pharmaceuticals, railway, shipbuilding, aerospace equipment, and computer, communication and electronic equipment were all above 53 percent, indicating that both production and demand sides of these industries are relatively active," said Huo Lihui, a chief statistician at the NBS.

New growth drivers continued to gain traction. High-tech manufacturing posted a PMI reading of 52.9 in May, rising from 52.2 in April, while equipment manufacturing recorded a PMI of 52.1, following a reading of 51.8 in the previous month, with both staying firmly in expansion territory.

"The purchasing managers' index for the equipment manufacturing and high-tech manufacturing industries continued to rise, pointing to the strong growth momentum on both the supply and demand sides and resilient exports of the new growth drivers, as well as the further consolidation of the overall momentum for the manufacturing industry to move towards new and better development," said He Hui, vice president of the CFLP.

In May, the index for production and business activity expectations stood at 53.9 percent, the second highest level recorded this year, indicating that manufacturing enterprises maintain a relatively optimistic outlook for the market.

Among them, the sub-index of the equipment manufacturing industry and the high-tech manufacturing industry recorded high levels of over 57 percent and over 55 percent, respectively, indicating that industries driven by new growth drivers are particularly optimistic.

L'indice des directeurs d'achat (IDA) du secteur manufacturier de la Chine s'est établi à 50 en mai, en baisse de 0,3 point de pourcentage par rapport au mois précédent, selon des données officielles publiées dimanche.

Un indice supérieur à 50 indique une expansion, tandis qu'un indice inférieur à 50 reflète une contraction.

Le sous-indice principal de la production s'est établi à 51,2 %, restant ainsi en phase d'expansion, selon les données publiées par le Bureau d'État des statistiques (BES) et la Fédération chinoise de la logistique et des achats (FCLA).

L'indice des nouvelles commandes s'est établi à 49,9 %, la demande du marché ayant ralenti par rapport au mois précédent en raison de la relative faiblesse des commandes extérieures.

"En ce qui concerne les secteurs, les indices de production et de nouvelles commandes des secteurs tels que l'industrie pharmaceutique, le chemin de fer, la construction navale, l'équipement aérospatial, ainsi que l'informatique, les communications et l'équipement électronique se situaient tous au-dessus de 53 %, indiquant que tant la production que la demande dans ces secteurs sont relativement dynamiques", a déclaré Huo Lihui, statisticienne en chef au BES.

Les nouveaux moteurs de croissance ont continué à gagner du terrain. Le secteur de la fabrication de haute technologie a affiché un indice de 52,9 en mai, en hausse par rapport aux 52,2 enregistrés en avril, tandis que celui de la fabrication d'équipements a affiché un indice de 52,1, après 51,8 le mois précédent, ce qui indique que les deux secteurs restent tous en phase d'expansion.

"L'IDA pour les secteurs de la fabrication d'équipements et de la fabrication de haute technologie a continué de progresser, indiquant la forte dynamique de croissance et la résilience des exportations tant du côté de l'offre que de la demande des nouveaux moteurs de croissance, ainsi que la consolidation accrue de la dynamique globale de l'industrie manufacturière vers un développement nouveau et meilleur", a affirmé He Hui, vice-président de la FCLA.

En mai, l'indice des prévisions de production et d'activité s'est établi à 53,9 %, soit le deuxième niveau le plus élevé enregistré cette année, indiquant que les entreprises manufacturières conservent des perspectives relativement optimistes pour le marché.

Parmi celles-ci, les sous-indices des secteurs de la fabrication d'équipements et de la fabrication de haute technologie ont atteint des niveaux élevés, respectivement supérieurs à 57 % et 55 %, ce qui montre que les industries portées par les nouveaux moteurs de croissance sont particulièrement optimistes.

وواصلت محركات النمو الجديدة اكتساب الزخم. سجل قطاع التصنيع عالي التقنية قراءة مؤشر مديري المشتريات عند 52.9 في مايو، مرتفعاً من 52.2 في أبريل، بينما سجل قطاع تصنيع المعدات قراءة مؤشر مديري المشتريات عند 52.1، بعد قراءة 51.8 في الشهر السابق، مع بقاء كلا القطاعين بقوة في منطقة التوسع.

وقال خه هوي، نائب رئيس الاتحاد الصيني للوجستيات والمشتريات: "مؤشر مديري المشتريات لصناعات تصنيع المعدات والتصنيع عالي التقنية استمر في الارتفاع، ما يدل على زخم نمو قوي ومرونة في الصادرات على جانبي العرض والطلب، بالإضافة إلى تعزيز الزخم العام لصناعة التصنيع نحو تطوير جديد وأفضل."

وفي مايو، بلغ مؤشر توقعات الإنتاج والنشاط التجاري 53.9 بالمائة، وهو ثاني أعلى مستوى مسجل هذا العام، ما يشير إلى أن شركات التصنيع لا تزال تتبنى نظرة متفائلة نسبياً للسوق.

ومن بين ذلك، سجلت مؤشرات فرعية لصناعة تصنيع المعدات والصناعة التصنيع عالية التقنية مستويات عالية تزيد عن 57 بالمائة و55 بالمائة على التوالي، ما يدل على أن الصناعات المدفوعة بمحركات النمو الجديدة تتمتع بتفاؤل خاص.
