U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday that the Department of War will step in if a new deal with Iran isn't reached, as U.S. officials signaled that Washington is accelerating talks by presenting Tehran with a tougher proposal.

Trump told Fox News that the United States and Iran were close to reaching a "very good deal."

However, Trump also stated that if an agreement cannot be reached, he will request the intervention of the Department of War and end the situation in another way.

Trump also pointed out that the agreement should ensure safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and that Iran does not possess nuclear weapons.

Several U.S. officials have revealed that Trump has significantly revised and tightened the terms of the memorandum of understanding, and the revised version has been submitted to Iran for review.

U.S. officials said that the revised proposal is more hardline and aims to pressure Iran to accelerate the negotiation process and accept the framework previously submitted to Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.

Two other sources familiar with the matter said that Trump requested revisions to the memorandum of understanding during a White House Situation Room meeting on Friday, particularly regarding the provisions concerning the handling of Iranian nuclear materials.

Iranian official media claimed the agreement was nearing completion but not yet finalized, and that Iran would receive billions of dollars in frozen funds; however, the White House denied this claim.

Le président américain Donald Trump a déclaré samedi que le département de la Guerre interviendrait si aucun nouvel accord n'était conclu avec l'Iran, alors que des responsables américains ont laissé entendre que Washington accélérait les négociations en présentant à Téhéran une proposition plus stricte.

M. Trump a déclaré à Fox News que les États-Unis et l'Iran étaient sur le point de conclure un "très bon accord".

Cependant, Il a également déclaré que si aucun accord ne pouvait être conclu, il demanderait l'intervention du département de la Défense et mettrait fin à la situation d'une autre manière.

Дональд Трамп также отметил, что соглашение должно обеспечить безопасное судоходство в Ормузском проливе и что Иран не обладает ядерным оружием.

Как сообщили несколько американских официальных лиц, Дональд Трамп значительно пересмотрел и ужесточил условия меморандума о взаимопонимании, и пересмотренная версия была представлена Ирану на рассмотрение.

Пересмотренное предложение носит более жесткий характер и направлено на оказание давления на Иран с целью ускорения переговорного процесса и принятия рамочного соглашения, ранее представленного верховному лидеру Ирана Моджтабе Хаменеи, добавили они.

Два других лица, знакомые с ситуацией, сообщили, что Дональд Трамп запросил внесение изменений в меморандум о взаимопонимании во время встречи в ситуационном центре Белого дома 29 мая, в частности, в отношении положений, касающихся обращения с иранскими ядерными материалами.

Иранские государственные СМИ утверждали, что соглашение близится к завершению, но еще не окончательно оформлено, и что Иран получит миллиарды долларов в виде замороженных средств. Однако Белый дом опроверг эту информацию.

US-Präsident Donald Trump hat am Samstag erklärt, dass das US-Kriegsministerium eingreifen werde, falls kein neues Abkommen mit dem Iran zustande komme. Gleichzeitig deuteten US-Beamte an, dass Washington die Verhandlungen mit dem Land beschleunige, indem es Teheran einen kompromissloseren Vorschlag unterbreite.

Trump sagte zwar gegenüber Fox News, die Vereinigten Staaten und der Iran stünden kurz vor einer Einigung über ein „sehr gutes Abkommen“.

Jedoch erklärte er auch, sollte keine Einigung erzielt werden, werde er das Eingreifen des Kriegsministeriums verlangen und die Angelegenheit auf andere Weise beenden.

Trump wies zudem darauf hin, dass das Abkommen die sichere Schifffahrt in der Straße von Hormus gewährleisten und sicherstellen müsse, dass der Iran keine Atomwaffen besitze.

Mehrere US-Beamte deuteten in diesem Zusammenhang an, dass Trump die Bedingungen einer Absichtserklärung mit dem Iran erheblich abgeändert und verschärft habe und dass daraufhin diese überarbeitete Version des Papiers dem Iran zur Prüfung vorgelegt worden sei.

Sie sagten weiter, der überarbeitete Vorschlag sei kompromissloser und ziele darauf ab, den Iran unter Druck zu setzen, um den Verhandlungsprozess zu beschleunigen und das zuvor dem obersten Führer des Iran, Modschtaba Chamenei, vorgelegte Rahmenkonzept zu akzeptieren.

Zwei weitere mit der Angelegenheit vertraute Quellen sagten, Trump habe während einer Sitzung im Situation Room (Lagezentrum) des Weißen Hauses am Freitag Änderungen an der Absichtserklärung gefordert, insbesondere hinsichtlich der Bestimmungen zum Umgang mit iranischem Nuklearmaterial.

Staatliche iranische Medien meldeten in dieser Sache, das Abkommen stehe kurz vor dem Abschluss, sei jedoch noch nicht endgültig unterzeichnet. Auch solle der Iran Milliarden von US-Dollar an eingefrorenen Geldern erhalten - eine Behauptung, die wiederum vom Weißen Haus zurückgewiesen wurde.
