"The so-called maritime delimitation area proposed by Japan and the Philippines is located east of the Taiwan Island, where China enjoys exclusive economic zone and continental shelf rights. By bypassing China to unilaterally initiate these delimitation negotiations, Japan and the Philippines have seriously infringed upon China's maritime rights and interests, violated international law and basic norms of international relations. Such actions are therefore completely illegal and invalid."

4. SOUNDBITE (Chinese) Zhang Han, spokeswoman, Taiwan Affairs Office of State Council (starting with shot 3):
"The DPP authorities, bowing and pandering to external forces, are nothing but traitors to the nation. Condemned by compatriots across the Strait, they have changed their tune, peddling the same old lies of splitting Taiwan from China to distract and deceive. The DPP authorities must be clearly informed that any individual who abandons their ancestral roots and betrays their nation will, without exception, be nailed to the pillar of shame in history."

A Chinese mainland spokeswoman on Wednesday slammed the Japanese-Filipino move on so-called maritime delimitation as "completely illegal and invalid," and denounced the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities as "nothing but traitors to the nation" for groveling to external forces.
Zhang Han, the spokeswoman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the statement at a press conference in Beijing in response to a media query about Japan and the Philippines' announcement of maritime delimitation talks regarding waters east of China's Taiwan Island and subsequent Chinese law enforcement activities in relevant waters.
