Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang on Thursday put forward four suggestions to advance mutually beneficial cooperation among Eurasian countries.
Ding, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, attended the opening ceremony of the 9th China-Eurasia Expo in Urumqi of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and delivered a speech.
Noting that the Eurasian continent has become a key region for Belt and Road cooperation, Ding said over the years China has been working with Eurasian partners to boost practical cooperation in various fields, injecting fresh vitality into the ancient Silk Road.
Ding put forward four suggestions on strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation among countries in the Eurasian region.
First, he urged deepening the alignment of development strategies to identify the common demands, common interests and future growth drivers.
Second, he called for promoting high-level opening up, reducing tariff and non-tariff barriers, and expanding space for investment and cooperation.
Third, he stressed the need of building a diverse connectivity network, enhancing connectivity in terms of both infrastructure and rules and standards.
Fourth, he called on countries to foster new growth drivers, seizing the opportunities of developing new quality productive forces to build a more resilient industrial and supply chain.
Ding noted that the central government supports Xinjiang in building itself into a core area of the Silk Road Economic Belt and playing a more important role in promoting domestic and international economic flows.
Serik Zhumangarin, Kazakhstan's deputy prime minister, Erlist Akunbekov, deputy chairman of Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, and Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, deputy speaker of Pakistan's National Assembly, also attended and addressed the opening ceremony.
Ahead of the opening ceremony, Ding visited the exhibition hall and spoke with representatives of the participating companies.
Ding on Wednesday and Thursday met with Zhumangarin, Akunbekov and Shah, respectively, exchanging views on issues of mutual concern.
During the meetings, Ding said China is willing to further enhance political mutual trust with all parties, firmly support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, consolidate practical cooperation in various fields, expand people-to-people exchanges and strengthen coordination and cooperation in multilateral frameworks, so as to bring more benefits to all countries and their peoples.
The foreign dignitaries extended warm congratulations to China on the holding of the 9th China-Eurasia Expo, speaking highly of China's significant role in promoting regional and global peace and development. They expressed the hope to work jointly with China to advance the high-quality development of the Belt and Road cooperation, deepen collaboration in fields such as economy, trade, investment and infrastructure, and promote bilateral relations to a new level.
The 9th China-Eurasia Expo is running from Thursday to Monday.
