UN Secretary-General Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric on Thursday called on expanded humanitarian access to Gaza and urged Israel to withdraw from the enclave.
Speaking at a regular press briefing in New York, Dujarric warned that humanitarian needs in Gaza continue to mount while aid access, supplies, and funding remain critically insufficient.
With the war now in its 1,000th day, he said the international community faces urgent questions: how to expand relief, secure a ceasefire, halt the fighting, and revive a political settlement.
"First of all, we need to see greater humanitarian access. We need to see the withdrawal of Israel from Gaza. We need to see a unified Palestinian political presence that is the same in the occupied West Bank as it is in Gaza. And we need all of the parties to recommit to a two-state solution and the international community to support them," he said.
