"Driven by higher demand, upstream and downstream industries along the supply chains are well-coordinated, inventory destocking accelerates, and the turnover efficiency of goods picks up. As an intermediary link between production and consumption, the increased activity in the warehousing sector reflects improved coordination between supply and demand in the macroeconomy, resulting in smoother economic flows."

China's warehousing index returned to expansionary territory in June, with the sector sustaining steady and positive momentum, according to data released on Tuesday by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing.
China's warehousing index stood at 50.2 percent in June, up 0.6 percentage points from May, data showed.
Among the sub-indices, the new orders index posted a notable rebound, while warehousing demand for bulk commodities related to infrastructure performed relatively well. The index stood at 54 percent in June, up 2.3 percentage points from May to hit a relatively high level, signaling faster growth in warehousing business demand.
By product category, the new orders index for bulk commodities associated with the start of major engineering projects, including steel, building materials, and mechanical equipment, edged up, with warehousing activity remaining relatively robust.
On the consumer side, supported by holiday spending during the Dragon Boat Festival and e-commerce promotions, the new orders index for consumer goods such as food and home appliances remained in expansionary territory.
Warehousing facility utilization also picked up significantly, with the index rising to 54 percent in June, up 4 percentage points from May. Utilization rates for steel, coal, food, and medical products all came in above 50 percent.
"Driven by higher demand, upstream and downstream industries along the supply chains are well-coordinated, inventory destocking accelerates, and the turnover efficiency of goods picks up. As an intermediary link between production and consumption, the increased activity in the warehousing sector reflects improved coordination between supply and demand in the macroeconomy, resulting in smoother economic flows," said Liu Yuhang, director of the China Logistics Information Center.
Overall, the warehousing sector saw mild fluctuations in the second quarter before rebounding at quarter-end. Going forward, with policies aimed at stabilizing the economy and major projects such as the "Six Networks" moving ahead, warehousing demand is set to grow further, keeping the sector on a steady and positive track.
The "Six Networks" refer to water networks, new-type power grids, computing power networks, next-generation communication networks, urban underground pipeline networks, and logistics networks.
