Jin Hu, a giant panda at Dalian Forest Zoo in northeast China's Liaoning Province, marked his 16th birthday on Wednesday.

To celebrate his birthday, his keepers crafted him a custom drum kit made of bamboo and solid wood as a special gift.

They also prepared a two-tier "birthday cake" packed with bamboo shoots and seasonal fruit, sculpted into a floral shape.

As the birthday song rang out, Jin Hu shuffled into view at his own pace, drawing cheers from a crowd of visitors.

To enhance visitors' consciousness of wildlife protection, keepers also extended knowledge on giant panda biology and habitat conservation during the celebration.

Captive giant pandas have an average life expectancy of around 30 years.
