U.S. President Donald Trump formally notified Congress that the United States has resumed military operations against Iran, U.S. media reported on Monday.

The notification letter, dated Friday, has raised questions about whether Trump can continue military operations without congressional authorization.

Congress has directed Trump to either end the war or seek approval to continue it, but he has maintained that he has the authority to make that decision.

Earlier Monday, Trump said on social media that the United States was reinstating a naval blockade on Iran in the Strait of Hormuz and would impose a 20-percent toll on all cargo shipped through the strategic waterway.

Le président américain Donald Trump a officiellement informé par écrit le Congrès que les États-Unis ont repris des opérations militaires contre l'Iran, ont rapporté lundi les médias américains.

Datée de vendredi, la lettre de notification soulève toutefois la question de savoir si le président américain peut poursuivre ces opérations militaires sans l'autorisation du Congrès.

Le Congrès a enjoint à M. Trump soit de mettre fin à la guerre, soit de solliciter une approbation pour la poursuivre. Toutefois, le président a soutenu qu'il disposait de l'autorité nécessaire pour prendre cette décision.

Plus tôt lundi, M. Trump a annoncé sur les réseaux sociaux que les États-Unis allaient rétablir un blocus naval contre l'Iran dans le détroit d'Ormuz et imposer une taxe de 20 % sur toutes les cargaisons transitant par cette voie maritime stratégique.

وأثار خطاب الإخطار، المؤرخ يوم الجمعة، تساؤلات حول ما إذا كان بإمكان ترامب مواصلة العمليات العسكرية دون تفويض من الكونغرس.

Президент США Дональд Трамп официально уведомил Конгресс о возобновлении боевых действий против Ирана, сообщили 13 июля американские СМИ.

El presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, notificó formalmente al Congreso que Estados Unidos reanudó sus operaciones militares contra Irán, informó el lunes un medio estadounidense.
