China's foreign trade in goods rose 17.3 percent year on year in the first seven months of 2026, maintaining a sound momentum for growth, according to the General Administration of Customs on Friday.

The total value of goods imports and exports reached 30.13 trillion yuan (about 4.46 trillion U.S. dollars) in the January-July period, marking the first time it has surpassed the 30-trillion-yuan mark for the same period in history.

In July alone, the total imports and exports rose 19.2 percent year on year to 4.66 trillion yuan. To be specific, exports amounted to 2.71 trillion yuan, up 17.8 percent year on year, while imports totaled 1.95 trillion yuan, up 21.2 percent.

"Our economy has forged ahead against headwinds and achieved innovation-driven and high-quality development, providing strong support for the growth of imports and exports. In July, our foreign trade maintained the sound growth momentum seen in the first half of the year, with its growth rate 2.3 percentage points faster than the first half. The total value of imports and exports exceeded 4 trillion yuan for the fifth consecutive month," said Lyu Daliang, director of the Department of Statistics and Analysis under the General Administration of Customs.

China has continued to deepen win-win cooperation with global trading partners since the beginning of this year, with its imports and exports with ASEAN, the EU, Latin America, and Africa increasing by 20 percent, 9.5 percent, 15.4 percent, and 18.9 percent, respectively, in the first seven months.

In the January-July period, the imports and exports with the Belt and Road partner countries grew by 15.5 percent to 15.36 trillion yuan, and that with other Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) economies rose 21 percent to 18.03 trillion yuan.
