Beijing's rivers and lakes are drawing crowds seeking relief from the summer heat with various water activities and extended business hours.

The Liangma River, a key section of Beijing's Grand Canal cultural belt, connects the embassy district, international business zone and waterfront living spaces.

In summertime, the river offers paddleboarding, kayaking, and swimming along a roughly one-kilometer stretch where hundreds of visitors take to the water daily to catch the evening breeze and sunset.

"I think it's great — you don't need to travel far to experience nature. It's right here in the city, not far from home. It feels really nice," a visitor said.

Meanwhile, several city parks have extended boat operating hours until 19:00 or 20:00 to let visitors catch the summer twilight.

At the Summer Palace, daily boat ridership has peaked at 30,000 this summer, with the extended hours allowing more visitors to catch the "golden hour" around sunset.

"We saw a lot of people taking boats over there, so we came to ask, and they said we could just make it," said tourist Wang Wanqiu.

　北京の河川や湖では、様々な水上アクティビティや営業時間の延長により、夏の暑さをしのぎに多くの人々が集まっている。

　北京の「大運河文化帯」の主要エリアである亮馬河は、日本大使館などが集まる「使館区」、国際ビジネス地区、そして水辺の居住エリアを結んでいる。

　夏の間、この川の約1キロメートルにわたる区間では、パドルボードやカヤック、水遊びが楽しめる。連日、夕涼みや夕日を求めて、多くの人々が水辺を訪れている。

　一方、市内のいくつかの公園では、夏の夕暮れ時の景色を楽しめるよう、ボートの営業時間を午後7時や8時まで延長している。

　「頤和園（いわえん）」では、この夏、1日のボート利用者が最大3万人を記録した。営業時間の延長により、より多くの来訪者が日没前後の「ゴールデンアワー」にボートを楽しめるようになった。
