China's online retail sales of goods and services rose 4.8 percent year on year in the first seven months of 2026, contributing more than half of the growth in total retail sales of consumer goods and services, the Ministry of Commerce said Thursday.
Online channels have continued to expand the range of goods available to consumers while making services more convenient, according to the ministry.
Among e-commerce platforms closely monitored by the ministry, sales of online travel services and online lifestyle services rose 24.9 percent and 16.3 percent, respectively, during the January-July period.
Digital technology has been increasingly integrated with agricultural and rural development, as part of the government's efforts to promote rural revitalization through e-commerce.
According to commerce big-data monitoring, online retail sales of agricultural products and rural goods increased 12.8 percent and 5 percent, respectively, during the first seven months.
Online shopping and digital content consumption also helped drive rapid growth in related service industries.
Data from the State Post Bureau showed that China's express delivery business revenue increased 7.4 percent year on year during the January-July period.
Meanwhile, the "Silk Road E-commerce Benefits the World" campaign, launched by the Ministry of Commerce, has continued to advance.
On cross-border e-commerce import platforms closely monitored by the ministry, sales of Serbian wine, Bangladeshi coffee beans and New Zealand butter surged 122.5 percent, 112.2 percent and 69.4 percent, respectively, in the first seven months of the year.
