China calls on peace-loving countries around the world to prevent Japanese neo-militarism from wreaking havoc to the region and across the world, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Thursday.

Guo made the remarks at a regular press conference when answering a question about China's position on the "Defense of Japan 2026" released recently by Japan's Defense Ministry's which requests for a record-high budget for fiscal 2027.

"The purpose of designating Sept 3 as the Victory Day is to remember the immense suffering caused to the Chinese people and the people of the world by Japanese militarist aggression, to remind the world to remember history, and to resolutely safeguard the achievements of the World War II victory and the post-war international order," said Guo.

"For a long time, Japan's right-wing forces have attempted to reverse the verdict on its history of aggression and avoid honoring its postwar international agreements and obligations. 　日本防衛省は2026年版「防衛白書」を発表し、さらに「敵基地攻撃能力」の保有を追求すると表明した。防衛省がこのほど提出した2027年度予算の概算要求は過去最高を更新して総額8兆8900億円だった。
