Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem said Sunday that the group remained committed to "resistance" and would not "surrender" to Israel, reaffirming the group’s refusal to disarm.
Speaking at a Sunday rally marking the second anniversary of the death of late Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, Qassem said Hezbollah "will only keep moving forward and will not be defeated."
In his televised speech at the rally, Qassem said Hezbollah cannot survive without "resistance," and called on all social groups in Lebanon to remain united.
According to al-Manar TV channel, thousands of people took part in the rally held in the southern suburbs of Beirut, Lebanon's capital.
On September 27, 2024, then-Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Beirut.
Israel and Hezbollah agreed to a ceasefire on June 19 following negotiations in Washington. Under the deal, Israeli forces were to withdraw from parts of southern Lebanon, with the Lebanese army taking over security responsibilities there.
But since the agreement was reached, Israeli forces have continued to carry out military strikes on targets inside Lebanon.
