Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao held in Beijing on Thursday a meeting with visiting European Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maros Sefcovic focused on the China-EU trade and investment consultation mechanism, according to a statement released by China's Ministry of Commerce.
It was the second meeting on the China-EU trade and investment consultation mechanism, which was established in June as a regular channel for addressing trade and investment issues.
Since the first meeting, China's Commerce Ministry has stressed dialogue, equal treatment and a move toward more balanced trade, while opposing unilateral protectionist measures.
Four areas are on the agenda: trade and investment balance, export controls, intellectual property rights and WTO reform.
China's Ministry of Commerce says China and the EU are already engaged in multiple rounds of consultations, with both sides calling for concerted efforts to maintain their positioning as stable and balanced key trading partners.
