1. Press briefing in progress
2. SOUNDBITE (Chinese) Guo Jiakun, spokesman, Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
"The Tokyo Trials constitute a historic trial in which peace subdued violence and justice prevailed over evil. The Trials are an integral part of the postwar international order. Recognizing and accepting the judgement of the Tokyo Trials is the prerequisite for Japan’s postwar return to the international community. What calls for vigilance is that today, eighty years on, however, it is alarming that Japan’s right-wing forces still defy the historic verdict of the Tokyo Trials and try every possible means to deny and whitewash the crimes of aggression, promote a distorted view of history, and brazenly worship war criminals as 'gods.' The international community should jointly push back against these trends."

4. SOUNDBITE (Chinese) Guo Jiakun, spokesman, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (ending with shot 5):
"The lessons of history are still fresh in memory. Anyone who undermines peace and challenges righteousness and conscience is bound to be brought once again before the court of history and justice. As an important force in the World Anti-Fascist War, China stands ready to work with all peace-loving nations and people around the world to carry forward the belief in the rule of law and peace, firmly safeguard the truth of history, uphold the postwar international order, and defend international fairness and justice."

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun on Tuesday said the exhibition marking the 80th anniversary of the opening of the Tokyo Trial at UN Headquarters aligns with the international community's shared efforts to remember history and cherish peace.
The exhibition, titled "Justice and Peace for All Humanity," opened at UN Headquarters in New York on Monday. It features historical photographs, archival documents, and publications on the investigation and prosecution of Japanese war crimes during World War II.
Spokesman Guo responded to a question at a regular briefing about the exhibition, calling for vigilance against right-wing forces in Japan that disregard the Tokyo Trial's historical conclusions.
"The Tokyo Trial was a historic trial in which peace tamed violence and justice triumphed over evil. It was an important part of the post-war international order. Recognizing and accepting the judgment of the Tokyo Trial is the prerequisite for Japan's post-war return to the international community. What calls for vigilance is that today, 80 years later, the right-wing forces in Japan, disregarding the historical conclusion of the Tokyo Trial, are vigorously denying and even glorifying the crimes of aggression, promoting wrong historical views, and openly treating war criminals as deities. The international community should jointly resist them," Guo said.
"The lessons of history are still fresh in memory. Anyone who undermines peace and challenges righteousness and conscience is bound to be brought once again before the court of history and justice. As an important force in the World Anti-Fascist War, China stands ready to work with all peace-loving nations and people around the world to carry forward the belief in the rule of law and peace, firmly safeguard the truth of history, uphold the postwar international order, and defend international fairness and justice," he said.
