Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik Al Said of Oman in Beijing on Monday.

Noting that China and Oman share a time-honored friendship, Xi said the two countries' political mutual trust has grown more solid, mutually beneficial cooperation has yielded fruitful results, and bilateral traditional friendship is deeply rooted in the people.

China is ready to work with Oman to take the China-Oman strategic partnership to a higher level, deliver more benefits to the two peoples, and contribute to regional peace, stability, and prosperity, Xi said.

The Sultan of Oman's visit marks the first visit to China by Oman's head of state since the two countries established diplomatic relations 48 years ago, Xi said. He said he believes that their talks will become an important chapter in the history of China-Oman relations and inject strong momentum into the growth of bilateral ties.

Xi urged the two countries to expand practical cooperation and steadily cement the foundation of mutually beneficial and win-win outcomes between the two countries.

China stands ready to deepen the alignment of development strategies with Oman, turning the two countries into stable and reliable partners in energy, partners with great potential in investment, and partners in high-tech innovation, Xi said.

The two sides should strengthen exchanges in industry, investment, artificial intelligence, science and technology, and culture, and advance hand in hand along their respective paths of development, revitalization, and modernization, he said.

The two countries should also closely cooperate in education, tourism, health, news, sports and other fields, and constantly enrich and expand the connotation of the China-Oman strategic partnership, he added.

With changes unseen in a century unfolding across the world at a faster pace and global issues keep popping up, Xi said the Middle East and the Gulf region should not become a wrestling ground for major-power rivalry and geopolitical confrontation.

China has always been actively committed to promoting ceasefire and ending hostilities, and hopes to contribute its wisdom and proposals to resolving regional security dilemmas, he said.

According to Xi, China is willing to enhance communication and coordination with Arab countries and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries including Oman for the early restoration of regional peace and tranquility and the realization of lasting stability.

Haitham Bin Tarik Al Said said that Oman firmly adheres to the one-China principle and supports China in safeguarding its national sovereignty and territorial integrity. He hopes the visit will serve as a new starting point to explore more cooperation opportunities, build a future-oriented partnership, and take bilateral relations to a higher level.

China has been Oman's largest trading partner for many years, with Chinese investment growing steadily and bilateral economic ties becoming more comprehensive and diverse, he said.

Oman is ready to strengthen cooperation with China in trade, investment, industry, infrastructure, artificial intelligence, science and technology, and other fields, he said.

Noting that China plays an indispensable leadership role in safeguarding world peace and stability, he said Oman highly appreciates China's just position on the Middle East issue and is ready to work closely with China to uphold international law, resolve disputes peacefully through dialogue and consultation, and jointly promote security and stability in the region and the world.

After the talks, the two heads of state jointly witnessed the signing of multiple cooperation documents in areas such as industrial and supply chains, green development, and digital finance.

During the visit, the two sides issued a joint statement on deepening their strategic partnership.

Xi hosted a welcome banquet for Haitham Bin Tarik Al Said at noon on Monday.
